Go out into the world. As a writer, as an introvert, as an average person whose life is fairly insular and wrapped up in the day-to-day goings on of work/making dinner with Dan/checking Facebook/reading etc this edict is something I have to remind myself to do. Go out into the world. Participate. See what's going on around me. Grow. Learn. Participate.
Have courage. Isn't that the challenge everyday, for everyone, in some way? For me, having courage means having the courage to be myself; to trust the instincts and intuition that lead me through life. Sometimes, have courage means something more tangible like Have the courage to say the words or do the thing that makes me feel uncomfortable.
Hold onto what is good. In a digital world where it's so easy to connect with all the bad that's going on around us, there is so much good. The kindness you're able to offer to the people in your life. A fresh tube of lipstick in the perfect shade. The gooey-ness of a grilled cheese sandwich. A wink, or a high-five, or a bear-hug. Hold on to the good things in life.
